Lighthouse Is Building “A Place to Call Home”
Lighthouse Youth Services is in the midst of a $20 million capital campaign aimed at ending youth homelessness in Cincinnati by 2020. The goal of the project is to create a seamless system of care to support the unique needs of youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in our community. At the center of this concept is “A Place to Call Home.”
The multipurpose building will house a shelter, permanent supportive housing, a resource center, and our street outreach team. Well trained and experienced Lighthouse staff will be on site around the clock. There will be access to mental health care, life skills training, job training, substance abuse services, and self-sufficiency training along with help finding employment and safe housing.
What does ending youth homelessness mean? It means by 2020, any young person alone and on the streets of Cincinnati will have shelter when they need it. And by 2020, every youth in shelter can leave that place with hope for a safe place and a plan for building a new independent life.
“A Place to Call Home” will be built in Walnut Hills at 2314 Iowa Avenue. Groundbreaking is tentatively set for July 2016. For more information on how you can help build “A Place to Call Home,” contact the Lighthouse Development Department (513-221-3350).
