Lighthouse Honoring Five Humanitarians
Five Leaders to Receive Beacon of Light Award
Lighthouse Youth Services is celebrating the accomplishments of five outstanding community leaders this spring. Lighthouse will present its Beacon of Light Humanitarian Award to Iva Brown(awarded posthumously,) Ryan Messer and James Musuraca-Messer, Edgar Smith, and Rabbi Gary Zola on Saturday, April 16, 2016.
The Beacon of Light Humanitarian Award recognizes leadership, community service, and a positive impact of the lives of children, youth and families. Lighthouse has been honoring individuals in the community with the Beacon of Light award since 1995.
The theme of this year’s gala is “Field of Dreams.” The evening at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati includes cocktails, dinner and a short program. Nancy Shepardson of Anderson Township is serving as the 2016 gala chair. She is a long-time Lighthouse volunteer and member of the Lighthouse Community School Board. Honour Pillow will emcee the gala.
Lighthouse Youth Services started 45 years ago as a single group home for girls. Today, Lighthouse is the largest organization of its type in Southwestern Ohio and annually serves 6,000 children, youth and families in need.
The proceeds from this year’s Beacon event will support Lighthouse services and the effort to end youth homelessness in Cincinnati by 2020.
