Child Sex Trafficking in Our Area: Helping the Victims
Many think of child sex trafficking as a problem in some foreign countries, but it also exists here. Ohio is ranked among the worst for child sex trafficking in the United States, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer and a report from the Ohio Attorney General’s office.
Approximately 1,000 juveniles many of whom are in their middle-school years are forced into the sex trade each year in Ohio.
Lighthouse Sheakley for Youth Center Director John Keuffer, The Salvation Army’s Program Manager for Anti-Human Trafficking Erin Meyer, and Hamilton County Job and Family Services Director Moira Weir discussed child sex trafficking in Greater Cincinnati and ways to help the victims on WVXU on Tuesday, February 16.
